Lacey Blowers - Dancer, Teacher, Mother

It has been a lifelong dream of Lacey's to create an inclusive collaborative dance community, in which she could share her skills and love of dance not only with her own children, but with her community at large.

Lacey has over 30 years of dance experience in a wide variety of styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Ukrainian Dance, Latin and Ballroom Dance and competitive Irish Dance through the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG). She holds a Blas Fine Arts Accreditation in Irish Dance and Culture from the University of Limerick, Ireland and is a registered member of the Cumann Rince Náisiúnta (CRN), based in Dublin, Ireland.

Lacey also holds membership with the Canadian Chapter of daCi (dance and the Child international), a non-profit organization focused on the promotion of growth and development of dance for children and young people internationally. As an international organisation, daCi is a fully constituted branch of UNESCO’s Conseil International de la Danse in Paris, with its financial base in Canada and archives located at the University of Surrey, England. In the true spirit of knowledge, education and community, Lacey also holds formal membership to the following organizations; CADA – West(Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists/West Chapter), Healthy Dancer Canada, Dance Manitoba, Canadian Irish Dance Company, Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA-ACD), Cumann Rince Náisiúnta (CRN) –Member of the Executive Health and Safety Committee, and Our Steps (Jean Butler’s Dance Collective).

In addition to her Bachelor of Arts in History and Economics, Lacey has a professional background in teaching with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba, a professional teaching certificate held in both the provinces of Alberta and Manitoba, and over 10 years teaching experience within the public education system as both a classroom and resource teacher. Lacey is the recipient of the Truesdale Medal and Prize for her demonstration of excellence in classroom teaching by a student graduating from the faculty of education from the University of Manitoba.

Lacey’s drive for creative exploration and constant pursuit of synthesizing new information for the purposes of meaningful collaboration comes from her professional training and experiences as an Air Intelligence Analyst with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Lacey and her husband Michael are raising their five beautiful children on their family grain farm, located just outside the town of Balmoral, Manitoba.

The foundation of Prairie North Dance is the harmonization of Lacey’s three deepest passions in life: dance, teaching, and most of all, community. Her focus on creating and maintaining meaningful connections within not just her Prairie North Dance community, but her community at large (on the local, regional, national and International scale) is the reason why she is a 2025 Recipient of the King Charles III's Coronation Medal, for her significant contribution to Canada through her service as an Air Intelligence Analyst.

Lacey is also honoured to be nominated for the 33rd annual RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards for her amazing hard work and dedication in creating our Prairie North Dance Community.

Our Teaching Assistant - Beginner/Novice Classes

Interlake's own Madison Hildebrand

Madison first fell in love with dance at a young age. Since her first dance class at age 5, Madison has amassed over 13 years of dance training and experience in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop.

Madison has 6 years experience as both a Teaching Assistant and Dance teacher in tap, ballet, and jazz with the Jansen School of Dance.

Madison has competed at dance festivals around the Interlake, as well as larger competitions like Dance Canada, Dance Manitoba, and The View. In both 2016 and 2017, Madison won the Interlake Award and had the opportunity to perform at the Rockwood Festival of the Arts Showcase.

Madison is currently studying at the University of Winnipeg, obtaining a degree in Anthropology, which she hopes to use to pursue a career in Archaeology.

With support and mentorship from Lacey, combined with her extensive dance background, Madison is so excited to step into the world of Irish Dancing.

Our Teaching Assistant - Novice/Advanced Classes

Danya Mozdzen

Danya began her dance journey at a very early age, at only 2 years old. With 17 years’ experience with Métis and Irish dance, she doesn’t remember a time when she hasn’t been in love with creative movement and music.

Danya has spent the last 11 years in a highly competitive Irish dance school; becoming a Craobhghrád (champion) level dancer, as well as qualifying to compete in regional, national, and international competitions in solo and Céili (team) categories. Danya has 14 years of performance experience within Irish dance, performing in local festivals like Folklorama. She spent her childhood performing at local legions, nursing homes, daycares, and other events in and around Winnipeg.

Danya has 5 year’s experience as an assistant teacher and teacher in Irish dance. She takes pride in guiding students through the learning process and loves watching her students grow.

When she isn’t dancing, Danya is a full-time student at the University of Winnipeg earning a Bachelor’s in History. She is a daycare worker for children ages 1-6 and organizes volunteer dance performances at care homes in her spare time.

When she has a minute to relax, she loves spending time with family as well as reading and writing.

After leaving her old dance school with Isla, Danya is delighted to start a new chapter of her life. Prairie North’s mission statement of meaningful, healthy, and positive dance practices are values she heavily identifies with. After mentoring with Lacey, Danya’s mindset on what dance should be about has completely transformed for the better, and she is so excited for this next season in her dance career with Prairie North Dance!

Our Teaching Assistant - Novice/Advanced Classes

Isla Fisher

Isla began dancing at the age of four, took her first Irish class at 8 years old and it quickly consumed her life. She has spent the past ten years dancing with a high-level competitive and performative Irish Dance school before making the decision to leave in 2024. She is a CRN World Qualified dancer, Craobhghrád (Champion) level dancer, and has experience dancing in many local festivals such as Folklorama.

After leaving her old dance school, she and her close friend Danya sought out Lacey for mentorship and quickly fell in love with her school and mission and began classes with her in February 2025. Lacey now acts as both a teacher and mentor for Danya and Isla and they couldn't be happier.

When she isn't dancing, Isla is studying as a full time university student working to become a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist, working part-time in Children's Programming and Day Camps, dancing volunteer performances in local personal care homes, or tending to her garden. She is the oldest of five children-- all of which are trained in Irish or Highland dance. Fun fact: Isla's grandmother was Lacey's nursery school teacher! Isla loves spending time with her friends and family or alone with a good book.

Isla has seven years of assistant teaching and teaching experience in Irish Dance, jumping on the opportunity to begin assisting her younger sister's classes at age twelve and continuing ever since. She has a decade of experience in CRN style Ceilis and Grade Dances, even participating in a team that placed fourth in the World in 2022 and winning numerous Regional and National titles. Now she teaches dance and gymnastics at the YMCA-YWCA, and loves assisting and training with Prairie North Dance.

Isla credits Prairie North's Adult program for changing her relationship with Irish Dance and completely transforming her life. She feels her passion for dance and love for the art has been completely reinstated and her health and mindset massively improved. Isla loves being a member of the Prairie North Dance community and cannot wait for another incredible year with Prairie North and the teaching team!

Our Competition Choreographer and Assistant Teacher

Karin Love

Prairie North Dance is incredibly lucky to have Karin Love as both a collaborator and choreographer for both our Adult dance program and our CRN competition division.

Karin began Irish Dancing at the age of 12 and quickly fell in love with it. Over the last two decades, she has competed within the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) throughout North America and has performed extensively in local festivals and events such as Folklorama.

She also danced professionally with “Ireland…Where the Song and Dance Began” an Irish stage production created by Will Millar of the Irish Rovers.

Karin “retired” from competitive Irish Dance at age 19 to pursue her education and other life endeavors. She now has two beautiful and energetic children with her husband Steve. She enjoys spending time outdoors and doing triathlons.

Karin is thrilled to be able to rekindle her love of Irish Dance and share this passion with others through the Prairie North Dance Community!
